Course Description: 

This course includes three basic sections:  usage and composition, literature, and research.  The usage and composition aspect of the course serves to review the principles of usage and sentence structure as the foundation for comprehension and writing skills.  The literature section of the course is a chronological study of English literature from the Anglo-Saxon period to the twentieth century and may include selected outside reading.  The research aspect of the course involves instruction in the proper method of writing a research paper.
