Trojans improve to 2-0 with 69-12 win
December 16, 2010 - The Mount Union Varsity Wrestling team improved to 2-0 with a 69-12 win over Tussey Mountain. Winning by fall for the Trojans were: Ryan Wilson (112), Kord Aurand (119), Dylan Smith (135), Ronnie Grove (145), Cole Boozel (152), Cory Kylor (160), Darrian Stapleton (189), and Aaron Burns (215). Dylan Knable (125), Tyler Long (130), and Blake Morder (140) all won by forfeit while Jake Rowe (171) picked up a regular decision. The next mat action for the team is Tuesday, December 21st when they play host to Juniata Valley.
Trojans open dual season with big 42-30 win over NBC
December 14, 2010 - The Mount Union Varsity Wrestling team started the dual season with a 42-30 win over Northern Bedford. Winning by fall for the Trojans were: Dylan Knable (125), Ronnie Grove (145), and Cole Boozel (152). Ryan Wilson (112) and Blake Morder (140) both picked up forfeits while Sage Moist (103), Kord Aurand (119), Tyler Long (130), and Jake Rowe (171) all picked up regular decisions. The team is in action again on Thursday, December 16th at Tussey Mountain.
Team finishes second at Conemaugh Township
December 11, 2010 - The Mount Union Varsity Wrestling team started the season with a second place finish at the Conemaugh Township Tournament. The team scored 49 points and had 3 Champions. Individual Champions were: 112 pounds - Ryan Wilson (4-0), 140 pounds - Blake Morder (5-0), and 152 pounds - Cole Boozel (3-1). At 145 pounds, Ronnie Grove (3-2) finished in second place. Third place finishers were: 103 pounds - Sage Moist (3-2), 160 pounds - Cory Kylor (4-1), and 215 pounds - Aaron Burns (3-2). Finishing in fourth place were: 119 pounds - Kord Aurand (2-3), 130 pounds - Dylan Smith (2-3), and 171 pounds - Phil Kyle (1-3). Placing fifth place were: 125 pounds - Dylan Knable (4-1), 135 pounds - Tyler Long (3-2), 189 pounds - Darrian Stapleton (2-2), and 285 pounds - Nick Smith (3-2). The team wrestles its first dual meet on Tuesday, December 14th at home against Northern Bedford.
