Course Description: 

This course covers basic skills in five areas: grammar, literature, research, composition and vocabulary.  Grammar studies include the study of sentence structure, usage and mechanics.  Literature involves the study of various literary forms as well as a study of American literature.  Research involves library research and the writing of a research paper. Composition stresses improvement in paragraphing, essay and summary writing, specific organizational skills in writing and thought as well as analysis and synthesis.  Vocabulary study will continue on a weekly basis.  Teacher approval required.
