2.1.  Numbers, Number Systems and Number Relationships

 

1.  Count using whole numbers by ones, fives, tens, (0-100), and by twos (0-10)

     Identify and write numerals representing sets through 100

     Write numerals representing number words (0-20)

     Use of concrete objects to order and group numbers

     Demonstrate an understanding of one to one correspondence through concrete objects

     Apply place value concepts (tens and ones) in counting, ordering, grouping numbers

     Introduce number patterns, odd and even (0-20)

     Compare sets equivalent to, greater than, or less than (<,>,=) (0-99)

     Identify ordinal positions and written names (first-tenth)

     Count and compare a collection of coins using quarters, pennies, dimes and nickels to and including 1 dollar

     Recognize the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction using number families

     Use pictures and concrete objects to construct and compare fractional parts of regions (1/2, 1/3, ¼)

     Estimate, approximate or use exact numbers as appropriate

 

2.  Students will apply computation and estimation skills in mathematical operations.

2.   Estimate a set and recognize when the estimation is or is not a reasonable answer.

     Use concrete objects to show the operations of addition and subtraction

     Recall addition and subtraction facts 0-10

     Apply single and double-digit addition and subtraction without regrouping in vertical and horizontal form

     Add three single digit numbers with sums to 18

     Describe the operation of addition and subtraction using oral and written language

     Solve picture and word problems by writing the number sentence that relates to the addition or subtraction situation

 

3.  The students will demonstrate an understanding of true and estimated measurements.

3.  Compare, estimate and verify, length, capacity, weight, temperature and time

     Choose appropriate measuring tools (scale, thermometer, measuring cup, rulers)

     Measure lengths using centimeters, inches and non-standard units

     Measure heavier, lighter weights (1-kilogram, 1 pound)

     Say and write time to the hour and half-hour (analog and digital)

     Compare elapsed times

     Order the days of the week and months of the year and read a calendar

     Read a calendar

     Collect and analyze data using the concept of largest to smallest and most often to least often

     Identify a spinner that is fair or unfair

     Locate points on a simple grid

 

 

7.       The students will demonstrate knowledge of basic geometric and

     Identify and draw lines of symmetry in geometric figures and in real life objects

 

8.  The students will demonstrate basic concepts of calculus.
