Homecoming for the Mount Union Area School District took place during the week of Monday October 13.

Students at the Mount Union Area Junior and Senior High Schools celebrated the lead up to homecoming with theme days throughout the week. Following a day off for in-service on Monday, Tuesday was pajama day, Wednesday was twin day, Thursday was meme day, and finally, Friday was blue and gold day for school spirit.

On Friday, the band, football players, cheerleaders, and 2025 homecoming court marched through the halls of the high school to be recognized and cheered on by fellow students.

Friday’s school day concluded with a homecoming pep rally featuring the 2025 Homecoming court made up of Sydnee Harris escorted by Abe Weirich, Gulia Whitesel escorted by Rowan Hartman, Kara Benson escorted by Micah Atherton, Genesis Henry escorted by Jacob Creitz, Sayde Wise escorted by Evan Yakymac, and Delaney Ronk escorted by Aspen Brumbaugh.

Candidates prepared skits to perform during the pep rally. Each candidate had chosen a Disney Princess to base their skits around and were able to have other students perform in their skits.

At halftime of the Clayburg-Kimmel versus Mount Union football game on Friday October 17, homecoming queen India James returned to crown Gulia Whitesel 2025 homecoming queen.

Whitesel said that she was shocked to win and was not expecting to hear her name called. She said “I was just grateful for the experience and happy I was doing it with all my best friends next to me”

The following day, the homecoming dance was held in the Mount Union Area High School gymnasium. Mount Union teacher and student council co-advisers Danielle Solt and Haley Krause along with members of the Mount Union Student Council were responsible for planning and hosting this year’s dance.

The music and dancing came to a pause to announce the winner of homecoming king. Abram Weirich was announced as the 2025 homecoming king and was crowned by his brother and 2024 homecoming king, Julian Weirich.

A. Weirich said that he was “surprised that I won.” He added that he felt like the voting was very split and that “it seemed like everybody voted for someone different.”
